Need a quick activity? Need an activity that the girls will love, yet is so simple - and it actually teaching them a skill? Make Ice Cream in a Bag. This is so simple and fun!
Here's what you need (for each girl):
1/2 cup half and half
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1. Put ingredients into a QUART size freezer zip-lock bag, letting out as much air as you can and sealing.
2. In a GALLON size freezer bag put the bag of ice cream mix (sealed) with enough ice to fill up about half the bag. Add about 6 T. rock salt (table salt works, too). Squeeze out air and seal.
3. Now shake, turn, toss, and squeeze the bag. In 5-10 minutes, your ice cream mix will be ready to eat.
*You may want to wear gloves - your hands tend to get cold.
*DO NOT double recipe. This technique works best with a small individual batch of ingredients.
You can add mix-ins to ice cream mix (before freezing) such as:
*small chocolate chips
*crushed up candy bars
*sprinkles
*chopped up fruit
*nuts
*mini marshmallows
*and more!
