*YOUTH* temple recommend holders

We finally did it!  We finally got this idea out of our head and made it a reality.  Every young man and woman should have one of these!  You can order them here.

Facebook & Teaching Safe Internet Use

Are you on Facebook?  Are you friends with your young women on Facebook?  Why not?  Either way - teens and children need to be taught how to safely browse online or else they may find themselves seeing things that they really shouldn't be looking at.  Adults can use a little reminding every now and then, too.

Facebook offers some advice for staying safe.  You can find their help pages on internet safety here.  I would also recommend reading church articles on internet safety and use your own experience to teach about being safe online.

Happy, safe web browsing!

Ice Cream in a Bag

Need a quick activity?  Need an activity that the girls will love, yet is so simple - and it actually teaching them a skill?  Make Ice Cream in a Bag.  This is so simple and fun!
Here's what you need (for each girl):

1/2 cup half and half
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 tsp vanilla

1. Put ingredients into a QUART size freezer zip-lock bag, letting out as much air as you can and sealing.
2.  In a GALLON size freezer bag put the bag of ice cream mix (sealed) with enough ice to fill up about half the bag.  Add about 6 T. rock salt (table salt works, too).  Squeeze out air and seal.
3. Now shake, turn, toss, and squeeze the bag.  In 5-10 minutes, your ice cream mix will be ready to eat.

*You may want to wear gloves - your hands tend to get cold.
*DO NOT double recipe.  This technique works best with a small individual batch of ingredients.

You can add mix-ins to ice cream mix (before freezing) such as:
*small chocolate chips
*crushed up candy bars
*chopped up fruit
*mini marshmallows
*and more!

Stars and Constellations

Learn about our planet with an activity on stars and constellations.  You can get a star wheel chart here.  Also - if you have an iPhone, or other smart phone, there are apps for star gazing.  My favorite is called Sky View.  Have fun!  You may want to serve microwave S'Mores as a treat.

Heart Weave Card

These cute heart weave cards are fun to make in February for a Valentine's Day activity.  Write loving messages inside, and include with a plate of goodies to loved ones or neighbors.  Get full instructions here.

Easy Activity - Glass Pan Etching

This would be a fun and easy activity for Laurels. And pretty cheap, too. Have the girls bring their own glass pans - you provide the rest. They can take these to college! Or, these make easy gifts for their mothers.
