2012 YW Leader Auxiliary Training

The Auxiliary Training by the General Young Women Presidency was this past week.  If you were able to attend in person - wasn't it great??!?!  (I will post my notes here in a bit...).  If you weren't able to attend in person, you can now watch it online.  How wonderful is that!  Watch it online here.

The opening song shown on the training video - which was also shown during the General Young Women Meeting, on Saturday, March 24th, can be seen, downloaded, and sheet music printed HERE.  It is called Arise to the Mountain.

I just love how the Church is so aware of our needs and the POWER the internet has to reach so many of you dedicated YW leaders.

**Side Note - Love the Genealogy Fan they showed during the training by the board on the youth doing family history?  You can get these printed at PrintMyFan.com.

100 years of GIRLS CAMP!!

2012 marks the 100th year of Girls Camp.  To celebrate the centennial the Church is giving us many ways to help us celebrate it.  You can get all the information here.  Love Girls Camp (young women camp) - always have, always will!!

Arise Jar Craft

I saw this adorable craft at a Girls Camp Training Meeting.  So - of course - I came home and figured out how to do it and made one.  I love it!  And it is relatively easy to do.  It took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish.  In the first one I used the color CELADON vinyl.  The second one I used CHALKBOARD GREY vinyl.

Get the cute vinyl lettering for this craft here.

How to make:

1.  Find a jar or vase you want to use.  This can be plastic, since the glass etching spray paint will stick to plastic as well as glass.  I used a glass vase from IKEA I had.
2.  If you want to put a candle in it - and light it - be sure your items can be used this way.  If not, an unlit candle is just as cute.  Or you can use it to hold things in a bedroom or even hold pencils.  Be creative.
3.  Be sure to tape off a space where you will put your vinyl lettering if you do not want this space sprayed.  If you want it sprayed behind the lettering, apply lettering first, then vinyl strips, then spray.
4.  I found the best, and easiest way to make the design was to use vinyl.  At the camp mtg they said they used rubber bands, but I tried rubber bands - it didn't work for me - I had to scrape off all the etching spray with steel wool and start again.  Vinyl was a no brainer.  Cut vinyl into thin strips and stretch and stick on jar - in what ever design you want.  I used the 15 inch vinyl that you can get here.  I probably only used about 2 inches of it - so out of a foot of the 15 inch vinyl, you can - safely - make 4-5 jars.
5.  Once you have your vinyl all around the jar how you want it, take it outside and spray with glass etching spray paint.  You can buy this at a home improvement store, or online.  I sprayed 2 light coats, one right after the other.  By the time I sprayed all four sides, the one I started on could be sprayed again.  Be sure to get all the way down by the bottom.
6.  Let spray dry about 5 minutes.
7.  Carefully peel off vinyl.
8.  If you left a space for the vinyl lettering, apply it in that space now.  Order the vinyl lettering shown in picture here.
9.  If you want to add embellishments, ribbon, etc to jar, do that now.
10. You're done.  Now how easy was that?!?!?!

Worth the Wait!

I love this!  What a fun way to teach this important message!  Click picture to view video, or click here.

I *LOVE* this meeting.  It is always so amazing and uplifting.

Monday

FREE stuff.

As many of you know I am trying to clean out my office of products that I no longer sell or just products I have way too much of hanging around my office.   Well, if you live close to me (or are willing to drive to me) I am putting on my PORCH a bunch of items - magnet boards, Christmas wood plaques, etched plates, etc...  You can come to my house - pick through the items and take what you want (No limit - take what you want).

The items are out there now, so come get them - so I can move on with organizing my office.  Don't you just love great free stuff?

Come and get it!!  My porch is located at: 931 E 1960 N, Lehi, UT (when typed into a GPS or Google Maps, it does get you here correctly).

Items are outside.  No need to knock on my door - just come get what you'd like.

**I will update on the LDS-YW Facebook page if I still have items - so like us on Facebook so you can stay updated on the FREE stuff that is available.  I do not think items will last longer than a day or two, so if you can - come right away for best selection.**

Thursday

Top 10 reasons to write in a journal

**Can also be found on the Class Activities page on the LDS-YW website.**

TOP TEN REASONS TO WRITE IN A JOURNAL
(A FEW IDEAS)

1.  Where else can you write something and not be questioned about it?
2.  How else are you supposed to tell all the details about that boy you like?
3.  A page a day, helps history stay.
4.  It's fun
5.  Your kids will love reading back on what their mom was like as a teenager, or an adult.
6.  Wouldn't you love to read about that?
7.  Good place to vent your feelings without hurting anyone else's.
8.  It helps you sort out your feelings and understand yourself a little better.  Someday it may help someone else as well.
9.  What a great way to remember all of the little details about special events.
10.  If you don’t write it, your memory will fade and the events will be lost forever!  How sad!
